East Iceland offers a variety of interesting sights such as majestic mountains, vast expanses, long fjords, a wide variety of rocks and minerals, and interesting bird life. In the narrow fjords you can find quaint, little fishing villages.
Egilsstaðir is the most densely populated area and is often called the capital of the East. The town and neighboring areas are very different from the rest of East Iceland in that it resides on lowlands and is therefore, more vegetated.
