Boat tour to Vigur Island

West Tours offers you a boat tour to the Paradise island of Vigur, an half an hour's boat tour from Ísafjörður. Thousands of birds inhabit the island, such as eider ducks, puffins, arctic terns, black guillemot and more. Upon arrival, you'll go on a walking tour to enjoy the abundant bird life. There are only five inhabitants on the island. They welcome you and serve refreshments in a 19th century house. Before going back, you can visit the tiny post office, probably the smallest in Europe where you can buy some postcards.
The tour takes approximately 3-4 hours and is offered daily from 10th June-31st August at 14:00.

Hesteyri in Jökulfirðir (Glacier Fjords)

West Tours offers you this history tour to the Glacier Fjords. From Isafjörður you travel by boat for approximately 70 minutes to the abandoned village of Hesteyri, the only means of transportation to this remote area. In 1940's the people of the village Hesteyri, without electricity and roads, made a common decision to move away, and in 1952 the village stood totally abandoned. On the way, we pass magnificent cliffs teeming with birdlife. The landscape in Jökulfirðir is very impressive, with steep snow-flecked mountains and unspoiled nature. There are daily departures from 16th June-21st August at 14:00.

Isafjörður and its surroundings are considered one of the best kayaking areas in Iceland. For bird watchers this is a unique way to observe the birds from a different angle. Experienced guides escort all participants and all kayaking gear is provided. The duration of the tour is of 2.5 hours and is offered upon request all year around.

From Isafjörður it takes approximately 20 minutes to drive to Flateyri fishing village. Experienced captains assist you and you can expect to catch species such as cod, catfish, haddock and halibut. At the end of the tour the catch is yours to take home.
All necessary equipment is provided except for protective clothing. Warm rain and windproof clothes are recommended. Tours can be arranged upon request. Duration of tour is 3 hours, and is operated from 01st June-31st August.
