In one of the old houses, the Tar House, you can enjoy light refreshments. The museum is open daily from 15th of May until 15th of September, from 09:00-17:00.

Hnjótur Folk and Air relics museum (close to Patreksfjörður)

The museum at Hnjotur is the work of one man, Egill Ólafsson, who was born at Hnjótur and lived there all his life. At an early age he started collecting objects from the past that eventually became a well-established and noteworthy museum. Because of his hard work and determination, many cultural treasures were saved that otherwise would have been lost.
A part from being a folk museum it is also an air relic's museum, with many objects from the first years of Icelandic aviation history including two control centers from Patreksfjörður and Þingeyri and a Russian Antonov aircraft.
The museum is open daily in the summer from 24th of May until 15th of September, from 10:00 to 18:00.
